Developers: OAuth support
For increased security and more resilient third-party apps, we’ve started early testing of OAuth support in the Tumblr API.
We’ve modeled our implementation after Twitter’s in many ways, supporting OAuth 1.0a with optional xAuth, upon request, where it makes sense such as mobile and native applications.
The existing authentication methods in the API are still supported for now, but we encourage developers to migrate to OAuth when possible.
To get started with Tumblr’s OAuth, integrate an OAuth consumer library into your project and get a consumer key by registering your app.
This is still in its early testing stages, so please report any issues. Thanks.

Tumblr Themes now available in 5 languages
Starting today, you can switch all of Tumblr’s featured and premium themes between English, German, Japanese, French, and Italian, with more on the way!
Just use the Language menu under Customize → Advanced.
This has been a big undertaking, and we’d love to hear your feedback on the translations. If you’re blogging in any of these language, please try it out!
Theme designers: Localizing your themes couldn’t be easier! Simply replace any English text with variables from Tumblr’s new theme dictionary. If your text string doesn’t exist yet, just request it and it will be queued for translation by our international team. Thank you!

Name Delbert Shoopman
Location Los Angeles, CA
First Post May 29th 2007While he may pretend to be mild-mannered assistant and producer, Delbert Shoopman is in reality an Internet Funmaker. Why, just last week, he announced his involvement in a jazz-fusion HIP/HOP dance team called the KRU-dités, he put out a press release announcing his retirement from eating guacamole, and bought a zoot suit just for the lulz. Let’s not forget his involvement in The Footloose Remake project, a collection of amateur filmmakers and video-making enthusiasts recreating the Kevin Bacon classic. Or IKEA HEIGHTS, a melodrama shot entirely in the Burbank Ikea Store without the store knowing. Delbert blogs about his amazing adventures and about being positive. (YAY!)

Name Allison Weiss
Location Atlanta/Brooklyn
First Post December 2007At fifteen, Allison Weiss picked up a guitar and decided to be a punk rock star in an effort to win over her high school crush. The relationship didn’t last long, but her passion for music has. She spent five years in Athens, Georgia playing every show she could get: open mics, festivals, street corners. She recorded and released albums, booked tours, and built a dedicated fanbase, all while getting her degree in graphic design. And today, literally today, she’s driving a 16-foot truck filled with all her belongings up to Brooklyn to embark on a new phase in her life and career.
